Calcite Powder

Ground crystalline calcium carbonate (\(CaCO_3\)) processed for plastics, filler masterbatches, interior and exterior paints, rubber products, and adhesives.

Available Forms in this Mineral:

Product Overview

Calcite is a natural crystalline polymorph of calcium carbonate characterized by rhombohedral crystal cleavage. Sourced from crystalline mineral deposits in southern Rajasthan, raw stone is pulverized and air-classified to narrow particle size distributions at our Pindwara unit.

Due to its natural crystal structure, low acid-insoluble abrasive content, and uniform dispersion, ground calcite powder is widely used in polymer compounding, architectural coatings, and industrial paints where screw wear must be minimized and consistent optical properties are needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What mesh sizes of calcite powder are available? expand_more
We supply 200 mesh, 300 mesh, 400 mesh, 500 mesh, and fine micronized cuts up to 1250 mesh. Air classifier settings can be calibrated to your target top cut (D98).
Is calcite powder abrasive to extruder screws? expand_more
Calcite has a low Mohs hardness of 3 and low silica/acid-insoluble content, making it significantly less abrasive to extruder screws and barrels than minerals with higher silica content.
What is the difference between calcite and limestone powder? expand_more
While both are calcium carbonate, calcite is crystalline with higher natural brightness and rhombohedral cleavage, making it standard for plastics and topcoat paints. Limestone is sedimentary and suited for construction, feed, and glass.
